Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse, Central London, Full Time, up to £45,000 per annum + Benefits

The Key Details are – I am recruiting for an IPC Specialist Nurse to ensure IPC is addressed in all areas of the hospital, and reflected throughout all activity related to healthcare provision.

Location: Central London – within easy access via Train, Bus and Car

Salary: £40,000 – £43,000 per annum / £20.51 – £22.05 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week.

Hours: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday

Further Details about the Role: I am looking to recruit a self-motivated and innovative RGN with a genuine enthusiasm for IPC. Required to provide effective and visible leadership. Expert knowledge and ability to support the Consultant Microbiologists and the Director of IPC. To ensure that the infection prevention and control(IPC) provision minimises the risk of healthcare associated infection for patients, visitors, and all staff by providing expert advice, specialist knowledge and support to the medical staff, nursing staff, health care professionals and other employees throughout the hospital. To provide leadership for the delivery of a cost-effective IPC service focused upon the prevention, surveillance and management of HAIs and other communicable diseases. To develop new initiatives, guidelines, and can implement current government policy relating to infection control to ensure that all care meets the requirements of national best practice; including clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements and Care Quality Commission standards.

Person Specification: The successful applicant for this IPC opportunity must be a Registered Nurse or other profession e.g ODP and possess either an NMC or HCPC registration. It is a must to have previous experience working in IPC. Additional qualifications within infection control (Diploma/Degree). Specialist knowledge to a level defined for that hospital. Able to apply specialist knowledge to risk assessment and support appropriate controls. Can provide leadership and development of all disciplines of staff. Ability to work across disciplines. Good communication skills. Ability to manage difficult and complex situations.
