Ophthalmic Technician/ HCA, South London, Permanent up to £23,000pa + Benefits

Key Details: I am recruiting for a motivated, enthusiastic and driven individual to join a Private Hospital located in South London. The post holder will demonstrate professionalism and be proactive in their approach to the care of the patients.

The Key details are –

Location: South London – within easy access via Train, Bus and Car with carpark.

Salary: £21,000 – £23,000 per annum / £10.76 – £11.79 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week.

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week

Shifts: Monday to Friday however the hospital will be looking to opening on Saturdays in the future.

Further Details about the Role: I am looking to recruit an Ophthalmic Technician / HCA To work under the supervision of the Senior Ophthalmology Technician and working closely with the a multidisciplinary team to support the day to day provision of patient care under the supervision and / or direction of the consultant clinician, to ensure the individual needs of patients are met, maintaining the patients’ dignity and privacy, acting in the patients’ best interest. The post holder:

* Acts under the supervision of the Consultant and within the boundaries of his/her existing knowledge and skills always.
* Is expected to be economical in the use of resources; s/he will have a responsibility for patient property and valuables.
* Will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours stated in the Care Certificate standards.

Your position will involve you taking images using the OCT, To undertake Visual Field testing. To undertake Biometry testing. Record test results in the patient medical notes accurately with date, name and signature for every entry, also use the electronic computer record system. To undertake medical Ophthalmology Photography. Be aware of developments in ocular biometry and undergo further training as required by the department. Be responsible for reporting any faults relating to the equipment within the Ophthalmology Suite directly to Medical Engineering and the Senior Ophthalmic Technician, advising others when machinery is not working. To be aware of his/her boundaries of work to prevent harm to the patient, understand the term ‘Duty of Care’ and to always act in the best interests of the patient/client.

Person Specification: I am looking for the successful applicant for this Ophthalmic Technician/ HCA opportunity you must possess NVQ Level 2 or prepared to train to this level. It is a must to have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required. Ophthalmic experience is a must. Have a clean DBS and able to obtain excellent references.
